At Beckons®, it’s our passion to create dynamic yoga
and lifestyle clothing for every body type, from the novice yogi to the
serious practitioner. Our clothes are an expression of our beliefs and
an extension of our practice into our everyday lives.We maintain a strong commitment to the triple bottom line, where profit is equally as important as our impact on the planet and it's people.
 The company’s founders, Ann Sather and Becky Prater began practicing yoga to bring
balance to their otherwise hectic lives. They quickly realized the need for colorful, comfortable, flattering, eco-conscious
clothing that could transition directly from the yoga studio into people’s
daily routine. Thus, Beckons was born. As clothing designers
and students of yoga, they tenaciously evaluate every Beckons garment
for fit, style and performance, and refine them until each is absolutely
perfect.
From the very beginning, Beckons has embraced the yogic philosophy of kindness
to the planet. We use only organic cotton and sustainable
fibers in our clothing. The organic cotton is sourced from Texas (US), India, Turkey and China. The growing fields and processing are certified by Control Union Certifications (formerly SKAL International). The processing is further certified by Control IMO, the Institute for Marketecologie. It is through these verification companies that we ensure our fabrics meet USDA and Organic Trade Association guidelines.
Beckons is equally proud to partner with a domestic manufacturer in San Diego to create its clothing. With jobs being scarce in the US and constant pressure to move manufacturing overseas, we are happy to have held tough on our domestic production philosophy. We know that the workers making our products have a choice to work where they do. Our facility is owned and run by two long-time friends. Many of the workers are family members. Our sewers are paid fairly, receive vacation pay and work in a clean and safe environment. They have been a gift to us.
We believe the little things we do, to ensure that women feel special while wearing our clothing, differentiate our brand. For example, we discretely sew into each Beckons® garment an empowering intention tag with words such as wisdom, courage, love, grace, integrity, and strength.
